The Arctic S111 M Mini Speaker System are a compact little travel set of wired speakers.  They’re available in a range of colours, you’ll see in the lime version in the video below, and they have a good quality carry case, making these great for those looking for a little laptop speakers. The case holds the speakers, the 3.5 connecting wire that you use with a laptop/mp3 player and the USB charge cable.

The Arctic S111 M speakers are dinky little things which are connected by a single wire.  The footprint is 7cm x 7cm x 7cm and they weigh just 454g.  When parted you get around 40cm space between the left and right speaker, so should easily fit either side of a laptop.  They connect to your device via a hardwired 3.5 plug and one speaker has controls on the back for turning them on/off and for adjusting the volume. It also has the charging port on the back, hidden away out of view.

The rechargeable battery will keep you going through the day, lasting up to 12 hours from a full charge.  To recharge you just use the included USB connector.

Considering the low cost the Arctic S111 M set is the sound is good. It’s not going to blow your mind, there is very little bass and there is some distortion if you crack the volume up really high, but that’s to be expect for such an inexpensive set.  What’s nice for such a low cost set of speakers is that you get stereo separation, normally with portable bluetooth speakers this isn’t possible as they tend to have a single speaker or two speakers that as so close togeather you can’t make out any stereo sound.

Yes there are loads of better sounding speakers available, but they all cost a lot more.  With the price, at the time of review, just £16.99 including the carry case it’s hard to find fault with this little set.
