The GameSir G3W turns your mobile into a portable games console.

The GameSir G3w is a low-cost gamepad that can be used with a multitude of devices, providing they are compatible with the wired input.

GameSir have done a great job on the build quality which is surprisingly good, if you’ve used an Xbox controller this will instantly feel familiar as it has the same button layout.

There is a short wire coming out of the back with a micro USB connector for use with mobiles and tablets.  If using this with mobile there is an optional cradle that can be attached to the controller to hold your phone in place.

When mounted the mobile felt well supported and there was no problem with a large 5.5″ screen, just be aware that as some mobiles have the power button on the side of the phone you’ll need to check the clamp doesn’t press down on the button.

It’s not all mobile gaming fun, if you’d like to use the G3w with an Android box or PC there is a micro USB to USB adapter and this cable is much longer, making it suitable for couch gameplay.  As you’ll see in the review video there wasn’t any setup required other than plugging the gamepad in, it worked flawlessly with Windows and Android (on a mobile, tablet and TV box).

Once connected the buttons become backlit and the pad is ready to use with any games that support a controller.  In the manual is a link to an app called “Happy Chick” which provides access to lots of games, but you don’t need to use this, the gamepad works without this being installed.

In use the G3w offers a great experience, working will with a range of games and on mobile was found to be a lot better than using the touch screen controls.  That it can be used with so many different devices is a real bonus considering the low price, really handy accessory to have if you have a few different game playing devices.

Note this was only tested with Windows and Android, with it having a USB connection it may well work with even more options than tested.
