The Hubasan X4 H107C is a low cost way to not only capture aerial footage, but have a lot of fun while doing so!
The X4 quadcopter is a tiny little thing that somehow manages to pack in a memory card slot and 2 MP camera which is capable of taking video footage only, no photographs.
Let’s be clear, controlling the Hubsan X4 quadcopter takes a lot of practice. You’ll see in the video below that the flight of a beginner will usually end in a crash, but this is totally down to inexperience with the controls and with a little patients you’ll soon get the hang of it. Remember that it’s not just forwards, backwards, left right like ground based RC vehicles, this adds the new dimension of up and down and it takes a lot of getting use to.
Fortunately the X4 quadcopter is well made and there was no damage despite the numerous dodgy landings.
As well as the copter you get a remote which has 2 thumbsticks on and a little LED screen. There is also protection ring, which was hidden on the underside of the packaging and if it wasn’t spotted could’ve easily been thrown out.
There is a small button on the copter for start/stopping the video recording, you must stop recording before powering off or else your footage will be corrupted. You’ll need to provide a micro SD card as one isn’t included.
Footage is surprisingly good when you consider this is only a 2 MP camera, you’ll be wanting to swoop around you home and garden in now time, although if you watch the video below I’m sure you’ll agree a little more practice is required before I get that adventurous!
It’s good to see there are a range of accessories available for the X4 quadcopter, including spare batteries and a ‘crash pack’ which contains spare parts to help fix your copter after a particularly nasty crash.
When you consider quadcopter/video camera combos usually cost hundreds this is brilliant value for money as well as a really fun little gadget.
