Azolt gCrusader Keyboard Review

The Azolt gCrusader is a nice looking keyboard, a great upgrade to the bog standard plastic ones you often get with PCs. Note that this is a US layout keyboard, not a UK layout.

The gCrusader looks great, the bottom section is bright orange (which I’m not too keen on) but this is hidden away and you don’t see much orange at all. Instead you get a lovely clean, simple looking design that has a few tricks up it’s USB cable.

For starters you’ll see in the video review that this doesn’t just have the standard set of keys, it also has a cool volume wheel. This works brilliantly for quickly adjusting volume up or down, although it would’ve been really good if a quick mute function had also been included.

On the left hand side there are ‘M’ keys, allowing you to program macros into the keyboard. For example in the video you’ll see I get it to type ‘abcd’ whenever M1 is pressed.

gCrusader volume controlThat might not be too useful, but if you’re in a game or application that has a sequence of keys to do something (e.g. opening a menu and selecting an item) this feature can be a real time saver. Note that these macros are stored on the keyboard itself, you don’t need to install any software to make use of them.

There is also the ability to lock the Windows key, another handy feature for gamers to prevent accidentally returning to the desktop mid game.

The gCrusader is backlit and you have 5 options: red, blue, purple, off, or rotating between the colours. You can also adjust the brightness of the light.

It’s very easy to type on and isn’t especially noisy. Keys are responsive enough to keep up with a fast typer and it’s nice to see an an optional rest included.

The gCrusader is a keyboard that packs in a lot for a very reasonable price, just keep in mind it’s not a UK layout keyboard.
