EC Technology have produced a number of low cost Bluetooth speakers and this particular model is one of the best looking.  The Bluetooth 4 black zinc alloy shell gives it a more premium look that a lot of cheap bluetooth speakers available and the blue trim adds a much needed splash of colour.

The speaker can act as a hands free speaker and has a microphone and call control button on the front, just under the EC Technology logo.  Curiously the controls have been hidden on the bottom of the speaker, meaning that if you want to use the play/pause, skip track or volume controls you’ll need to pick the speaker up.  For most this won’t be an issue as you can control music playback on the device you’re streaming from easily enough.

Around the back of the speaker is the USB charging port and an aux in port and you get cables for both.  EC Technology Zinc SpeakerDisappointingly, given the price is almost the same as the recently reviewed Arctic S111 speaker system, there is no case so you’ll have to just pop it in your bag and hope the lovely finish doesn’t get scratched.

Powering it up and it’s easy enough to pair with the device of your choice.  Although it looks good the sound is below average.  It fills the room fine but even for a Bluetooth speaker the bass was really disappointing, especially when compared to EC Technology’s own recently reviewed Bluetooth 3 speaker.

While this looks great, there are better sounding speakers for the same price.
