I’ve been evaluating these certified Apple refurbished iPhone 6’s for use at work. The only way you’d tell this wasn’t a new mobile is the small statement on the front of the box disclaiming ‘Apple Certified Pre-Owned’.

Inside the box you get the iPhone 6, charging cable and wall plug, headphones, manual and SIM tool. The tool is used to add the nano SIM card, very simple to install.

The iPhone 6 design is different from the previous iPhones, I’m not a fan of the earlier designs as they look rather dated compared to other manufacturers phones, but the 6 is a great looking phone with a good sized screen.

The iconic menu button now also acts as a fingerprint scanner. This is configured during the setup process and has proven to be a fast, accurate, way of unlocking the phone and authorising payments.

The camera is brilliant, photos looks crisp with colours popping out and lots of detail.

Lots of useful modes built in, such as panorama, but the really cool mode is slow mo for video. Playing back a slow motion video you’ll get the initial part of the video at normal speed, then it slows down, then it speeds back up again to end the video. The sound is also slowed down and the finished results are really good.

As you’d expect from a high end handset this is also great at playing games, with them whizzing along. Two things to keep in mind if you’re a mobile phone gamer, 1) the screen size means your hands can get in the way sometimes and 2) the speakers are on the bottom of the phone, so if playing in landscape mode you sometimes cover them up and muffle the sound.

If you’re not an iPhone user keep in mind there is no SD card slot and you’ll have to get use to the restrictive nature of iPhones, for example having to use iTunes and iCloud to get at things on your device. If you’ve already got an older iPhone I’m sure you’ll love this upgrade.

Fantastic looking phone with a great camera.
