The Ecobeat One bluetooth speaker stands out from other budget bluetooth speakers with it’s design and finish. The bamboo means this looks far nicer than other low end speakers which often feature a lot of plastic.
The Ecobeat One comes with a nice carry case and a USB/Aux cable. There isn’t an aux in port, you have to use the provided USB/Aux cable if you want to plug a wired device into the speaker so be careful not to misplace the lead!
The bamboo finish is lovely, sounds comes out of holes drilled in the top, there is a USB port towards the bottom and the only decoration is the word ‘ecobeat’ etched into the front.
Powering the speaker on and you’ll hear vocal status updates rather than the usual status beeps. The chap in the speaker lets you know the speaker has powered on, that it’s ready to pair, that it’s paired etc.
Pairing was nice and easy and the speaker quickly reconnects to your mobile next time it’s switched on.
Sound quality is disappointing, music sounds a little flat and there is virtually no bass, less than most low cost Bluetooth speakers reviewed to date.
There is a sticky pad on the bottom, other speakers reviewed, such as the Tecevo S10, have use such a pad to enhance the bass by vibrating the surface the speaker is placed on. That didn’t seem to be the case with this speaker, the pad seem to just keep the speaker from slipping and offered no enhancement to the bass.
The Ecobeat One does have a decent room filling volume and the nice style makes this an interesting choice if it’s going to be easily visible, just keep in mind you’re paying for the bamboo design rather than sound quality.
