Huawei Ascend Y550 Review
The Huawei Ascend Y550 is a cracking little budget handset.
It offers decent specs for the low price, you get 4G, a 4.5″ screen, 1.2GHz quad core processor, a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.
Huawei have chosen to put their own skin on Android and it’s OK, but it does away with the app tray which is something that takes getting use to if you’ve used other Android mobiles. To be fair it does keep things simple and is similar to Apple iOS but with the ability to add widgets amongst the app icons, this is one of those things you’ll get use to in time.
The screen is a good size, not too small and not absolutely massive, it’s easy to see everything and it’s nice and responsive. The only downside to a 4.5″ screen is that if you’re a game player your hands can sometimes get in the way.
The camera is just OK, about what you’d expect from a budget mobile. The Y550 sometimes struggles with focusing, but as long as you don’t rush things you can get a snap or video worth of sharing on social media.
As you’ll see in the review video below the Ascend Y550 plays games fine…when you have enough space to install them. That’s one of the bigger negatives about this mobile, the internal storage is way too small and you’ll want to make sure you have a memory card to pop in when you’re setting this up. The back and battery are both removable.
Good all round budget mobile, just could do with a bit more internal space.
