The PSYC Prisim is a fun take on the low cost Bluetooth speaker.

Rather than the usual rectangular or tubular design the Prisim features a rather funky cone design that has a play/pause button at the top and the power/light button on the bottom.

The cone itself is covered in multicolour LEDs and this is what sets the Prisim apart from other low cost speakers.

Power it up, pair it to your device, and when you hit play the Prisim lights up and changes colour.  There are a number of different light modes, it can cycle through colours independently of music or it can react to the music being played.

If you’re not in a party mood or you want to save some power you can deactivate the lights and just use this as an interesting looking speaker.

The react to music mode works best where there is a clear beat within the music, if this isn’t present (for example classical music) the LED don’t react as well to the sound.  However, get a thumping track and, as you’ll see in the review video, as the song kicks in so do the lights, flashing, changing colours and changing patterns throughout the song.

It would be good if the sensitivity of this feature could be changed to help with less thumpy songs, but you can always switch to a different lighting mode if the music reaction mode isn’t picking up a particular song.

With such an interesting design you might expect the sound quality to suffer at the low price, but actually it sounds great.  It easily fills a room and thanks to the design it vibrates the surface it’s on adding extra bass that you can feel vibrating through tables and into the floor.

The PSYC Prisim is a fun speaker that looks and sounds good.
