The AMP X7 isn’t the usual cheap plastic Bluetooth speaker, this is a well designed, nice looking bit of kit. It has a metal grill running around the sides, controls on the top of the speaker and ports on the back. One of the ports is a handy USB out which means you can use the speaker to charge your mobile or tablet.  With a 6600mAh battery on board the X7, fully charged, holds enough juice to top up your mobile and play music without running low on power. Amp X7 Ports Setup is very easy, it pairs to your mobile via Bluetooth and has NFC to make things really easy.  Once paired up you get a decent sounding speaker that easily fills a room.  The X7 has decent bass considering it’s small size and there wasn’t any distortion even with the volume cranked up. There is an optional charging cradle for the X7 which plugs into the mains and provides a flat plate for the speaker to sit on and be charged.  This is really useful if you plan on using this speaker a lot in one particular room as it means you don’t need to worry about it running out of power and the plate gives a tidier finish than having a cable plugged into the back of the speaker. Although a great speaker it occupies a tricky position price wise.  For a little more you can get the brilliant August WiFi speakers that can stream from sources such as Spotify, and for a lot less you can pick up the excellent Sumvision Psyc Monic. You do get a portable speaker that feels very well built with lots of ports, it sounds good, but I can’t help feel at this price the charging cradle should be included to give this a way of standing out from the crowd.
