With the recent explosion in both Windows based and Android based TV boxes you’re not short of ways to add smarts to your TV.  However, these boxes usually don’t come with a good method of controlling your device from the sofa and that’s where the DroidBOX 3-in-1 remote comes in.

This is a really handy accessory for anyone with an Android or Windows media box. The remote connects to your device via the included USB dongle, it was plug and play and was instantly recognised, no additional software was required.

Charged via USB, a cable is included, this is a dual sided remote, on one side is a traditional media remote, on the other side is a mini keyboard.

This also acts as an airmouse, you move it around in the air to move the on screen cursor. This make using on screen menus much easier and once you have used an airmouse for a while you won’t ever want to go back to a standard remote control.

The keyboard works well, it’s nice and compact but still easy to type on. You won’t want to type out long essays on it, but it’s perfect for entering details such as usernames and password. The only minor niggle is that you need to use a function key to access characters in green, but there is nothing to indicate if this is on or off, so you need to look at the screen to check you’re not typing numbers instead of letters.

The compact size makes the VIP Plus 3-in-1 a brilliant addition to any home media entertainment system.
