Power banks are nothing new but it’s nice to see EC Technology have put some effort into the design of this 18000mAh power pack. You’ll see the black version in the video below, but it is available in a range of colours should you fancy something a little more vibrant.
The power bank is nicely designed and feels like a well constructed product. With 2 USB ports available it means you can power up a couple of devices at the same time.
The power bank is charge via a micro USB connection and the manual warns not to charge the bank and use the bank for charging at the same time. A small button is used to activate the charging, check the power levels via 4 little LEDs, and activate the torch mode.
The torch is basically the 4 LEDs turned on permanently and a nice feature is that these can be set to blink, useful if you need some sort of warning signal but worth noting the LEDs are not massively powerful.
EC Technology have made the power bank nice and slim, but it’s not something you’ll want to carry around in a pocket as it’s a little too big and heavy for that, it’s more for those who want to keep it in the car or carry it in a bag, briefcase, backpack etc.
Tested with a range of different devices (mobile, tablet, headphones speakers) all charged at a decent rate.
Due to the amount of power it stores you’ll need to leave the power bank charging for a long time, but that’s just a limitation of this sort of battery technology at the moment.
Yes there are smaller power banks available, but if you want one that packs a lot of power so you don’t have to charge it every night then this is well worth considering.
