The first thing to note about the Edifier B3 Sound Bar is that you get a lot of sound bar for the money. This is a meter wide and that gives space for 6 speakers in total.
The Edifier B3 Sound Bar has been designed to either sit on a surface or be wall mounted, and a mounting bracket is included in the box. Also included are the audio cables (RCA and optical) required to get this up and running very quickly. You don’t need an external amp, this can be plugged directly into your TV.
The design is clean and simple, with the connectors hidden around the back and controls hidden on the side. These controls allow you to adjust volume and change the input type. There is a power button although if you forget to turn this off it will go to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity.
There is a remote included that is mostly black and so can be a bit tricky to use in the dark, but does a good job of keeping things simple. As with the on speaker controls this allows you to change volume, input type and also change the sound profile (movie, news or 3D).
A great feature is inclusion of Bluetooth, which means you can easily connect to this to play music from a smartphone or tablet. There isn’t any WiFi so don’t expect Spotify connect, it would need to stream via your device.
Sound quality is very good, a huge improvement over the standard TV speakers. Considering there is no external sub this has a good, deep, bass which is great for both music and movies and doesn’t overwhelm the vocals. The B3 sound bar easily fills the room and adds a real punch to movies.
For the price you get a great sound bar that keeps things simple by not requiring an additional amp or sub. If you’re only using the TV speakers this will make a massive difference to the quality of sound, especially when watching films or playing games.
