Having produced some great headphone FSL are back with the Prism bluetooth speaker, a mid priced stylish portable noise machine. Removing the Prism from the box and you’re instantly reminded of the style factor all FSL products have; As with their headphones the FSL Prism speaker looks fantastic coming in a triangular shape with controls hidden away at the top of the speaker.

The front of the Prism is a speaker grill, behind which hides a status LED. On the top of this grill are controls which allow you to turn the speaker on or off, skip tracks, adjust the volume, activate the 3D sound option and accept an incoming phone call.  There is also an aux in socket in case you don’t want to use Bluetooth and an aux cable is included with the speaker.

For me the sides of the Prism are one of the stand out features, a section of metal with a black surround that visibly vibrate when the beat kicks in, check the video below to see what this looks like.

FSL Prism SideThe speaker is battery powered and recharged via a USB cable which is included, although you’ll need to provide your own USB plug adapter if you want to charge this from a wall socket as one isn’t provided.

Setup was very simple, just turn it on and if it can’t find a pre-paired device it’ll enter pairing mode. Pair with it from your mobile/tablet/laptop and you’re ready to play some songs. Volume can be easily controlled via your device or on the speaker itself and the sound quality is very good for a speaker this small size, offering a clear sound with good bass.

Pressing two buttons simultaneously activates the 3D sound mode.  This does alter the sound coming out of the speaker but it wasn’t so noticeable as to be a must have feature,  the speaker sounds great with or without this switched on.

Price wise there are a lot of far cheaper speakers available, but the low end speakers will struggle to deliver such good quality sound. The FSL Prism easily fills a room with a nice quality sound and decent bass, impressive considering it’s diminutive size.  It would’ve been nice to have a travel case included to protect the lovely finish as this is ideal for taking out and about with you, but aside from that there isn’t anything to fault about this stylish speaker.
