The Teclast X98 Plus II certainly takes a lot of design inspiration from the Apple iPad Air, looking lovely and slim.

However unlike the Air it actually feels rather weighty in the hand. It also offers a choice of operating systems, giving you both Android 5.1.1 and Windows 10 and the ability to switch between both systems.

The systems operate independently of each other so if you set up your accounts, WiFi access etc in Android you’ll need to do it all again when you load of Windows.

As well as the tablet you’ll find an OTG cable, USB cable and a round tip to USB charging cable in the box. Note that a UK charger is NOT included with this tablet, you get a 2 pin plug instead.

Windows works well, the screen size is big enough to use either desktop mode or tablet mode (which I’d recommend). It’s a full Windows PC so you can access things like the full Office 365 suit. To swap from Windows to Android you’ll need to restart the tablet and select Android from the start up menu.

Android is kept nice and clean with hardly any additional apps pre installed. It runs well, games such as Asphalt8 and Modern Combat 5 looks great and the only real issue when gaming is the weight of the tablet if you’re holding it in position.

The speakers are on the back so you won’t cover them with your hands when playing games.

The camera is a bit of a let down, photos don’t look especially good with very poor colour reproduction. Although video suffers from similar poor colours it does at least look nice and smooth on playback.

The screen looks good and is large enough to act as a canvas for those of you who are artistic. I did notice the screen looked a little scratched and scuffed, not in operation but when the light hit it. This didn’t cause any problems but could potentially mean it’ll be easy to damage further.

So while the general tablet performance is good it’s let down by the weight, camera and lack of UK plug.
