Edifier MP200 Mini Speaker Review

Bluetooth speakers come in all shapes and sizes, the Edifier MP200 has to be one of the smallest and cutest available.

It’s a tiny cube available in a range of bright colours.  It come really nicely packages, sealed in a bell jar that gives you a clear view of your funky new tech.

Edifier have been thoughtful enough to pre-install a wrist strap, you also a a USB charging cable.

The MP200 itself is a tiny cube with a rubberized feel.  It’s been designed to take out and about, it feels durable enough to withstand the odd drop and has a rating of IP54, meaning it’s dirt, dust and water resistant (rather than waterproof, so don’t drop it in the pool on holiday!).

There are subtle controls dotted around the speaker to control volume and playback.  The MP200 is charged via USB, the port is normally hidden away but when you reveal it you’ll also find a microSD card slot so you don’t even need to have this linked to a device for playback.

You’ll see a green coloured speaker in the video review below, a range of colours are available for you to pick from.

Given the tiny size of the speaker you’d be forgiven for expecting the sound to be rather poor, perhaps tinny and quiet as is often the case with small speakers.  You’d also be forgiven for being shocked and surprised when first hearing the MP200 play music, it’s surprisingly loud and has a decent amount of bass for it’s tiny size.

If indoors you’ll find it plenty loud enough to fill a room without any distortion, a remarkable achievement given the tiny size.  It’s portability offers up another potential use, a laptop speaker.

Many laptops have rather tinny speakers, and while you can use headphones instead it’s nice to have the option to pair this tiny speaker, which easily fits into a laptop bag, with your laptop to up it’s sound quality.

The Edifier MP200 is an amazing little Bluetooth speaker, a tiny package of surprising awesomeness that can’t fail to delight and surprise anyone you show it off to.  It’s is available now from:
