The Yeelight LED light strip is a low cost smartphone controlled lighting strip.
The strip comes on a spool and when unwound you’ll find you have an LED strip with good length power cable. The back of the LED strip and the power block both have sticky pads giving you a low of options as to where you use this, allowing you to mount this under or on surfaces.
Rather than being controlled via WiFi your phone connects via Bluetooth. Setup was very simple, plug the LED strip in, download the app and use the apps inbuilt search feature.
Once the strip has been detected and added to the app you have full control over the LED lights, selecting the colour and brightness quickly and easily.
Alternatively the app offers a number of automatic modes, for example the LEDs can cycle through different colours (you can select the colours and the cycle speed), or they can change colour based on your phone listening to music.
The app is easy to use, although at one point a non-English message was displayed. A couple of connection issues between the phone and strip have been experienced but these were quickly resolved by closing and reopening the app.
Controlling over Bluetooth means there is no need for a WiFi hub, making this a very simple product to setup.
The Yeelight LED light strip offers a good range of features for the low price.
